چکیده
The first high resolution record of dinoflagellate cysts ∼110–155 kyr over Termination II and the Last Interglacial in Santa Barbara Basin, California from ODP Hole 893A details a complex paleoceanographic history. Variation cyst relative abundances, concentrations, diversity reflects climatic ocean circulation changes, assemblages are used to make qualitative reconstructions sea surface temperature (SST) annual primary productivity. dominance heterotrophic Brigantedinium spp. throughout section indicates an important influence coastal upwelling on basin. Based assemblages, five zones identified, which approximately correspond marine isotope stage boundaries their associated changes SST level. Cooler intervals, MIS 6 5d, characterized by cold-water indicator species Selenopemphix undulata whereas thermophilic taxon Spiniferites mirabilis characterizes warm 5e. In contrast other studies Pacific, data exhibits one two-thousand-year cooling event ∼129 that correlates level still-stand two-step deglaciation. A significant increase concentrations latest 5e implies enhanced production due increased seasonal warm, nutrient rich waters entering basin after stabilizes near modern levels. hydrological evolution signal is similar development Holocene but sustained presence across SSTs were higher than conditions.

Rapid switches in subpolar North Atlantic hydrography and climate during the Last Interglacial (MIS 5e)
[1] At the peak of the previous interglacial period, North Atlantic and subpolar climate shared many features in common with projections of our future climate, including warmer-than-present conditions and a diminished Greenland Ice Sheet (GIS). Here we portray changes in North Atlantic hydrography linked with Greenland climate during Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5e using (sub)centennially sampled...
متن کاملThe coral record of last interglacial sea levels and sea surface temperatures
Ž . Ž . The rise and fall of the Last Interglacial LI sea levels and sea surface temperatures SSTs are evaluated using U-series dating combined with SrrCa ratios in corals from both stable and tectonically uplifted sites. Along the stable coastal margin of Western Australia, an extensive series of LI coral reefs occur at heights of 2–3 m above present-day sea level. These corals have a very tig...
متن کاملHolocene variations of sea-surface conditions in the southeastern Barents Sea, reconstructed from dinoflagellate cyst assemblages
Palynomorphs were analysed in two sediment cores from the southeastern Barents Sea representing the past 8.3 and 4.4 kyr. High dinocyst contents and species diversity enabled the application of the best analogue method to quantitatively reconstruct sea-surface salinities, temperatures and ice cover using 677 modern reference sites from the North Atlantic and Arctic seas, including new data from...
متن کاملPyrethroids in Southern California coastal sediments.
Little is known about pyrethroid fate and effects in estuarine and marine environments. In the present study, the extent and magnitude of pyrethroids in coastal embayments of the Southern California Bight (SCB), USA, were assessed. Using a stratified probabilistic design, 155 sediment samples were collected from four embayment habitats (estuaries, marinas, open bays, and ports) and analyzed for...
